My favorite time of year to catch crappie is when they are moved up into shallow water in the brush piles and other structure to spawn. Well down here that time is NOW!!! Went out Sunday and me and 2 friends put the smack down on them! Heres a few pics.[/ATTACH]

Ended up with 82 in 4 hours.

Went out for about 4 1/2 hrs this morning before the heat drove us home and had 33 keepers, have to be over 10", biggest was 14". Tried up in some shallower water 7-10 feet but only a few dinks. Most of these came from a hundred yd section of creek with 13-15 FOW. Blk/pink was the best color.

I wish we could keep fish like that. Here in NC we can have 20 per person per day. They have to be 8 inches where i fish but I think some parts or waters is 10 inches

Those are some fine looking crappie.
Rob, some places in NC don't have a creel limit; like Shearron Harris lake. The size limits vary. Shearron Harris doesn't have one of those either, but Jordan is 10" limit.

    They're still shallow?

Where I fish ,crappie has to be over 12 inch. They can't be on 12, has to be a little over 12. I've limit out around 4 times this year. Not very good! Maybe it will get better

I fish alot on the tennessee river looking for cat fish, but when it comes to crappie i go to scottsboro. Are the crappie biting in that area or is it to hot. I only go when the weather starts to cool down. but i have a taste for some and my stock has ran out. were can i get some this time of year. :confused2:
