i have a crack in my lower unit ,looks like water got in there and froze and cracked the case above the cone(white line in pic). i tried grinding it out and using jb weld but it cracked again. any body know if it can be welded

Take it to a good shop where they weld alum and they may or may not be able to weld it with the gears in it. I do know it can be welded.

The hardest part of getting that welded is trying to get rid of the JB weld. I know a welder that does them all the time, and never takes the gears out, just the oil.
