I'm going fishing tonight in a lake not to far from my house. It's a pretty descent sized lake, and looks like it can have some big fish in it. I'll be using bluegills and chubs. Should i fish on bottom, or just fish floats and bottom or what.

In this type of weather, I would sugjest using a float and keeping it about 5 to 10 feet off the bottom depending on water depth. As hot as it has been, the lakes have developed a thermocline and that is where the fish will be. A thermocline is developed when the surface water gets hot and drives oxygen levels deeper, it also causes the water at the bottom to loose oxygen as well. The fish will stay in this line that is still oxygenated.

One of the lakes i fish.If you fish with live bait deeper than 20 feet or so the bait dies from lack of oxygen. So i try to find structure from that depth to the banks.
