Coosa river question

Hey all, I have a question about the Coosa river. I was planning on going up to check it out and was wondering if the river is big enough for my boat (16 ft bass boat). If not, any suggestions for bank fishing?

I wouldnt take my bass boat down the Coosa atleast not the part that lies in Georgia. Maybe someone who fishes it more can help you out but the few times ive been there has been tons of rocks..
The Coosa from Rome to the old Lock and dam is kind of shallow, but from the Lock and dam downstream to the st. line and Lake Weiss it is plenty big and deep enough.
Thanks for the info guys! I greatly appreciate it!
YOU ARE OK DOWNSTREAM OF THE LOCK AND DAM ,BUT LIKE ON ALL RIVERS USE CAUTION.. I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST CHECKING THE NEW REGS AND READ THE CONSUMPTION WARNINGS . IF I REMEMBER RIGHT IT SAYS DO NOT EAT IF OVER 32 ''. GOOD LUCK AND POST HOW YOU DO.
when you go up or down the coosa you can look to left and right and see old limb hooks hanging from tree to tree :sad2: I try to cut as many as i can when i leave. i just wish i had more people to help . and im sure its not just the coosa river . its probally every river:confused2:
As stated before, the river is fine downstream from the lock and dam. I use an 18 ft bass rig (Although when I'm set up it doesn't look much like a bass boat) and you will encounter a lot of pontoons out there. Depending on the flow rate (which can change from hour to hour due to upstream dam releases) there can be a lot of floating, and even worse, partially submerged logs and limbs. During the day it's not too bad but night traveling can be very slow going. Give a shout if you need ramps.
what do ya'll think the best way is to fish the river, do ya'll still fish or drift
I like to anchor and still fish but sometimes there isn't much current and the wind can be a pain unless you use 2 anchors. My son and I fished the Coosa Sunday and caught a couple nice cats. I posted some pics in the member fishing reports section if anyone wants to take a look.
