Have fished this series of spring connected ponds in North Las Vegas twice since I've been here. Skunks! Hell. I'm a saltwater guy. Guided in SW FL around Sanibel/Captive Islands for nearly 30 years. Now, here I am, and I'm a duck out of water. This is a hostile environment in many ways, and also to fishing. Lake Mead and the stripers, LMB, and SMB, catfish, and carp are at minimum an hour away, and it takes a good FWD truck to get to most of them. First time I went there to explore, I had no idea what to expect, and before I got to my fishing destination, the earth swallowed my car, like you'd swallow a pill. OMG! I have managed since then to catch some nice channel cats and SMB/LMB since then. No stripers from my yak. But, this beautiful little area called Floyd Lamb park has eluded me twice. Well, today I went armed with a box of Panther Martin inline spinnerbaits from 1/16 oz. to 1/2 oz. determined to catch either some catfish, or rainbow trout, or both. Kept catfish rigs in the water all morning long. Zilch. But, my first cast after I arrived got me my first Thule Springs fish, a pretty rainbow trout. Wow. I'm on to something. My second cast got hung on the bottom and it was only then that I realized that I had brought everything but the kitchen sink with me, but forgot to pack my box of spinnerbaits. My one Panther Martin black/yellow with gold blade, was gone. But, thanks to a couple of new friends I made this morning, who gave me a little Thule tutoring, I came home with my limit of 3 rainbows. My thanks to BigCatDaddy and Everett Bisqyera. It was great to be the student, instead of the teacher!
