Anybody know anything about 1st generation Colt six shooters. I recently came across one with serial 275333 which I think makes it 1906. The rare thing is it has mother of pearl handles with a steer head on the right grip. I'm trying to find out when the handles would have been made. They're definitely real MOP, can't find any info anywhere.

It is impossible to date those MOP grips since custom grips have been an option since the Colt Single Action Army revolvers hit the market in 1873. Pearl grips are pretty delicate so if you plan on shooting that colt you might want to pick up another set of "using" grips and keep those pretty pearls for show.

    Congratulations on a great find!
