For those not familiar with them a Dumbull is made like a drum head with a corse string attached in the middle. The string is rosined and pulled through the fingers to make a grouling sound much like a bear. A friend was hunting Colorado and had some guys camp un neighborly close. They probably did so because they were not comfortable in the woods to start with. He pulled the Dumbull routine on them after supper. He said that Three guys trying to get in the same pickup door at the same time was the funniest thing that he had seen in a while. Do you have any good Dumbull stories or other funny things encountered while camping?

Byron, I just did a search for the dumbull, and way it looks that I'm going to try and make one now. Looks like it'll be fun for this winter.

Back in the old days we would use an old nail keg to make them.We would just knock both ends out of the keg and stretch a peice of hide over one end to attach the string to and used pine rosin on it,we called them "groulers".

I use my Primos "Hot Dog" coyote call and let out a few howls.
