I allways enjoy it when I see other anglers that enjoy carp fishing. Put a kid on to a 4 or 5 lb. carp with light tackle and watch him/her shout with joy. Of course with catfish too. When the cats aren't biting go for the carp. catrick1

A circle hook really isn't needed in carp fishing setting. If I was to use one it would have to be the smallest I could possibly find.

For small doughbait you need to use a #8 spring treble hook, on carp.

Because of the very nature of how a carp eats (sucking in the bait and blowing out when something unfamiliar is detected like a hook) a circle hook is not the best choice for carp. Take the time to learn to tie a hair rig properly on a J hook. Your hookup percentages will increase. Guaranteed. Unless you are keeping all that you catch I would not recommend treble hooks for carp or catfish as these do more damage to the fish. Hope this helps.

I want to thank all for taking time to help me. I do want to introduce my 6yr
old grandson to the fun of catching carp.
