Six of us went to Choke on Friday and stayed till Sunday caught 15 fish on jugs in the 20 to 30 pound range using gold fish and perch. We caught enough fish Saturday morning to fill two wool sacks both 3/4 full of catfish. We caught most of them in 8 to 15 feet of water. On the flats off of Caliham straight out from where the trailers park for night camping. The biggest fish came from the wooded cove right down from the Federal Prison. Caught a ton of fish out of Hog Island. We caught several on rod and reels using Big Mary's Cheese Bait. We ended up filling two 120 quart ice chests full of filets. The white bass under the bridge at 99 were slow and just pecking at the minnows but were all over 2 pounds and full of eggs. Not a catfish one had eggs, have the cats at Choke already spawned?

Tried at Choke Canyon for whites we had three rods out in rod holders and could not detect the bites. We went to holding the rod(1) and could barely feel a tap. We would then take up all the slack in the line and then on the next tap we would set the hook. They were really soft bites and as a result we missed allot of fish.

Fished from the bank at Calliham (think that's the name) State Park. Fished mostly the lake, but put 2 poles out in the 75 acre pond which was behind us as we were fishing the lake. Caught 13 cats xtween 1 & 4 lbs and most were blues, with a few channels mixed in. Had about 10 borderline channels which we tossed back and did not bother to measure as they are so scrawny. Had about 15 drum and they were all pretty healthy drum and probably avaraged about 7lbs apiece. Were very fun to catch also and very scrappy fighters. 4 carp between 1 & 10 lbs. Friend had a carp that looked to be 'bout 25, a real bruiser, but came unhooked 5 yards from the bank. Had minnows & worms, but worms caught all.
1st time fishing this lake and really enjoyed it. Will have to make the 300 mile roadtrip and fish it again.
