darren fishing at night only makes it so you can't see the chocolate milk ,it's still there! lol

lots of patience and fish the higher water areas with something that gives off a good scent trail to help the fish locate your bait, better option is to find a pond that has a good barrier stip of grass etc around it and the water will still be clearer, it's just going to be tough for a while till we get some stabil weather. might be a good time to take care of any honey-do lists or other stuff you need done and get it out of the way for more fishing time later.

An old timer told me the best bait for using after rain storms and muddy water conditions is WORMS!! Not nightcrawlers, but those good old worms that you dig for. Sewer worms and garden worms. Put a big ball of them on and hang on!! Never really tried it, but it makes sense because the rains can wash worms into the rivers, lakes and the such. My take is that Catfish taste by smell mostly, and any stinky bait might up your odds too. I've never had much luck after strong rain storms and muddy water. Now fishing during rain is different. I've had excellant success fishing when it's pouring!! Just bring the rainsuit and GO FOR IT!!

Good advice so far. My son nailed about an 8 pounder in Clinton Lake KS on worms. He almost lost his pole it was skidding across the rocks.
That's awesome Jeff!! mojo for you for taking the time to take your son fishing!! I'll bet the expression on his face was worth a millions words when he landed that fish!! Glad he got to the pole, before it was lost in the lake!!

Hopping by next week thursday there's clearer water and the spawn might be started at Loup Canal... planning a whole day of fishing, dip bait, worms, minnows, cut bait, maybe some small bullhead.

I wanna start pulling fish again. Got skunked in an hour or so today when i ate lunch at the Canal.

Went fishin with the ol man yesterday went to a small creek on the rise that flows into the Blue River. Water was up in the grass on the sides of the bank You could see fish swimming right along the weed line coming up stream. Dad said that they were carp After watching for a while We both realized that they were not carp !! They were cat fish ! and nice size ones at that we tryed every thing but couldnt get any thing to bite crawlers, gills, shad gizzards, dead chubs. The water is in the chocolate milk stage but we have in the past caught a lot of fish in this creek when the water is up. or when its on the way up. Going again today when the ol man gets his coffee drank !

Vic if you can get ahold of some leapard frogs hook one up through the bottom jaw and out between its nostrils and toss it in the shallow water as close to the weedline as possible, even better is right by a small point of weeds or anything that makes the fish go out and around on their way upstream. make sure the rod is secured they hit hard!I think the white belly on the frog really attracts them in the dirty water, and its a food they are used to and love.

Another thing to try in chocolate water is good ole WD40. it leaves an oil trail as well as a scent trail some cats go nuts over. or you can get some canola oil, stir in some good ole powerful smelling garlic salt and dip your bait in it as well.

WD40? Hey buddy!! That's polluting the water and could be damaging the enviroment!! People believing that WD40 has fish oils as attractants, don't know chit!! Read the additives on the can!! here's some enlightment>http://www.wd40company.com/files/pdf/msds-wd494716385.pdf
