What is the best way to add garlic to chicken breast/thighs to use for bait? Garlic powder, garlic salt or bait sprays? Also does anyone have thoughts of using menhaden oil to soak chicken? Anything else that people put on their chicken that works well, or anything that doesn't do very well? Never used chicken, but heard some good things about it.

BBQ is pretty good. I like to let my chicken cook for a while then add it a few minutes before it's done.

Everyone knows you stab holes in it, baste it heavily in both powder and blended-to-minced, tenderizing it, marinating it in weak honey, pouring garlic juice on it and caking on mounds of garlic again until it caramelizes
Beware of screaming fish, I bet that stings their eyes a little

Mr. Mac's method of chicken breast marinated in garlic powder is a proven success. You can learn a lot from him.

I eat the chicken breast and thighs and fish with night crawlers...or I catch bluegills and carp and cut that up for bait.

I think it's best to use bait that the fish eat most often...other fish.

    Just my opinion

Only way I would waste chicken is if it was going bad...same for shrimp.

Got a few chicken breast scraps and put on very little garlic salt placed in ziploc baggie squished it up and went fishing an hour later. Side by side with cut bluegill the garlic chicken was getting the bites and a few 3 and 4lbs channels with no bites or fish on the cut bluegill. I have more chicken breast and now garlic powder will try again side by side with garlic bluegill fillets.

I first read Mac's article a few years ago and tried it, and been using it ever since very successfully.

I havn't really been able to tell the difference using the chicken with or without the garlic here, they bite it either way. Neither will outfish chicken liver in the rivers I fish, they like the livers much better here.

I’ve tried strawberry chicken, cherry chicken, garlic chicken. I’ve yet to catch the first fish on it. I have friends that swear by it though.

I kinda think the additives just boost the fishermans confidence LOL, the fish just like the fresh chicken.

I have found, In my part of Texas, that there is not a better bait to consistently catch blues and channels. I have fished it side by side with cut shad, live minnows, live goldfish, and night crawlers. Each time the CBMIGP comes out on top.

For me, I think the greatest benefit is the scent trail it produces and it helps to draw in the fish.

I have friends that swear by a lot of things that don't catch anything.

They don't give up their secrets easily...

I have caught fish on chicken breast/thighs. Not big fish and not a lot of them.

It can work but there are better baits. If I want numbers of eatin' sized channels...there is only one bait for me....chicken livers. It almost always works and I almost always catch more than I could possibly eat.

I go out to target bigger fish most of the time so....I want to use bait that the big fish are going to be interested in. That is almost always live or cut shad/bluegill/skipjack

Exactly. In my opinion bluegill is the best bait available and best of all it’s free and easy to get.

I have caught a couple whopper carp using small chunks of bluegill as hookbait. Was trying to catch smaller channels/bullhead to use as live bait and up comes these monster carp...whoppers...like over 20 pounds
