was out there the other day catching crawdads and there where two guys fishing so walked over and asked if they were doing any good
well they said we caught some they said and pulled up a basket full of fish (channels about 1lb-2lb each)
so my son and i went out there with some shrimp and fished for two hrs yesterday and lord behold the same two old men pulled up and sat down next to me and casted
i asked what you using for baite they said chicken liver and about 2minutes later there poles started bending
i felt pretty stupid and watched two older men catch about 10 fish and just got in the truck and leave and me still there with just a pole in my hand wondering what the hell just happened
so im going to be ready next time and take some chicken livers with me and hope to catch some supper

Sometimes it takes guts to catfish. Sometimes it requires other internal
organs. As I remember it, I became certain about chicken livers after
the fifth or sixth smug old man kicked my young butt using them in one
form or another. Berkeley says their Gulp! products can outfish them.
Maybe in a testing tank in Iowa but out in the world I think chicken
    livers rule!

i think you are correct on that call. they are not so good on a rocky bottom though, falls in the rocks where they can't get to it.

When fishing a rocky botton with them , use a float rig to keep them up off the bottom.
