Has anyone ever heard of cheese balls for bait? I think my grandfather used a cotton ball and rolled it in melted cheese the best I can remember!

My grandfather used to get the rotten cheese commercial fishermen put in their nets and roll it into little balls for trotline bait.It worked really well.
