Check your spools

    while getting ready for a fishing trip tomorrow, one of my many self proclaimed nephews (suprizing how many of those you have when you say your going fishing) brought over his reel to be restrung. not sure what he had been doing to it, but that poor alpha sninning reel looked as if it had been used as an anchor. dirty is nice compared to what this thing was and the worst part was the dings in the spool.
    after showing him how to take it apart and clean it i explained to him that with every cast, those dings where nicking his line. with some emery cloth, we were able to remove the dings and get the spool back to a smooth surface.
    i check my spools after every trip. i would hate to lose a big one because of a few minuetes of maintenance.
