I know at the local watering hole these old guys will sometimes talk about the old bomber plant not too far away from here(sarpy county). Now I can download that photo and share it with them, see if they remember it looking like the photo.

    Thanks for sharing this!!!!!

Wow! Check out Boone Co. Mo. The first post card is the First Christian Church of Centralia post card!?!?!? Never thought I'd see something antique from my home town right here on the BOC. That church is still there today.

WOW, what a great post. Boyd Co, Ashland, KY, Winchester Ave. I have delivered mail there. In the picture it would have been a lot easier, doesn't seem to be many buildings. Now that is the busiest street.

mike if you look at st clair county illinois there are alot of east stlouis photos that are not even close to how it is today.
they show flowers , parks and trollys and now its crack dealers and and littered streets with run down houseing
there are still remnants of the armour meat plant and the national city
is about a ghost town save a couple truck/tank repairs and the metal scrap shredder.

What about POP's, Diamond Caberet, and The OZ? Or is that a different neighborhood? That's all the farther I will venture into East St. Louis. And I ALWAYS gas up BEFORE it gets dark. Made the mistake of not doing that once. Won't happen again.

those places are anybodys land they are on the outskirts of town.
im talking deep within the heart of the city:tounge_out: .

it was once called a model town now the city is a disaster.
it used to have booming industry now there are gutted shells of buildings lineing tracks and streets

Hey Darryl, I hope Danny sees this link too. I was just thinking about him and Jo earlier today. Anyhow, this is GREAT! I have some penny postcards, and I guess I WAS hoping I'd see one or two like mine.....but alas, it was not to be. However, I looked at all the NC ones (so far). Brought back memories to see the town square the way it used to look in Lenoir, NC (Caldwell Co.). The monument has been moved. I was born in Lenoir. Another favorite would have to be the black and white print of Village Street on Ocracoke Island :smile2:. Thanks Darryl, you're :cool2:.

Sure a neat place! Thanks Darryl.

I really like the one for Ector county, TX, Odessa... our home for many years.

Another favorite is Garland county AR, Lake Hamilton... not far from where we live, looks a little different today.
I try and get a shot from the same location.

Darryl, that is too cool. They'd be worth a fortune nowadays. That picture looks like it would be the bend just downriver from the jacksonport ramp. I'll have to ask a old fella here and see what he thinks..... Oh and i'm still here, you guys are going to have to run me off! :tounge_out:

Here is a link to the local paper with some neat stories in it from the past, along with a link to a place that sells pearls (arkansas pearls) that was harvested from the white river.
