I am looking for high quality charts of the Potomac River. I have one made by GMCO which isn't bad and one by Maptech which is worthless. Does anybody know where I can buy a good chart of the Potomac River?

You can get online NOAA charts using Chart Navigator. A freeware version is available which works pretty well. Once you install the software you can go to freeboatingcharts.com and download the charts you want.

You obviously have to print them out to take on the water with you but it at least gives you something to study at home, which is what I do for the James. I just head to the water with some waypoints programmed into my GPS that I want to check out.
