Channels are about to spawn?

I’m not an expert but best I can tell the channel cats are about to spawn I caught this one today. puffed up head lips are blue and the rest of the coloring is following. No nesting/spawning wounds on it yet but I’d say it won’t be long.

Yep. Blues and channels are feeding heavy here in kansas. Low 70s water temps.

June is usually a bad month for channel cats for me.
I'm hoping it gives me more of a chance to catch a flathead.

Nice channel! I’m about ready to get serious about my catfishing season here I haven’t been out except for walleyes and smallmouth bass but I’ve got the urge to put a bunch of new gear to use.

That’s the main reason I switched over to a kayak Stacee! Hit those close to home spots that are to difficult from the bank when the water is up
I haven’t had enough time to get out fishing either
