i us 25lbs. test big game with 2-3 oz. no-roll sinker, 12, 15, 17" leaders with 25-30lbs. test tied with lazer sharp steelhead hook, or what i used to us was lazer sharp baithooks but the best maybe other hooks that r on the market that will help reduce problems with the stomach hookups or digestion of a hook. But i like to use beads or spinners (like lindy rig or that sort) on my rig cause they will help the catfish or fishes see the rig especially in the day. but this may be a lttle expensive for night fishing. maybe good for walking a biat on the bottom lookin for holes
    help me last year.

Welcome to the BOC. It all makes sense to me. I always use beads on my rigs to help protect the knot. I am convinced color does make some difference although not as much as for other fish.
