Agree or disagree?
CC mouth width 10% body length = female.
CC mouth width 15% body length = male.
its easier than that, no need to get math involved. Males are darker, with wider heads and shoulders. Females are slate gray, and more streamlined. also, you can tell by the appearance of the external genitalia.

It seems to be contrary to nature, but the males have bigger mouths than the women of the species, in my encounters with them. :smile-big: lol
I wouldn't go by color. There's a lot of variation in skin tone depending on location and water conditions. I have yet to catch a channel cat out here that wasn't dark brown.
