Friday night at Cannelton we had a Spoonbill in the 25 lb range hit a shinner. The fish hit hard and fought hard all the way to the boat. This is only the second I had ever had this happen. Is this fairly common or just plain luck? I thought these fish would not feed on live bait and must be snagged.

if you caught this fish on a shiner i would bet the farm it was just accidental. there also could have been a bunch of plankton in the same vicinity as your bait and it was just scooped up.

Interesting catch. This doesn't happen very often. You might want to consider playing the lottery with that luck.
