I know its not a cat but its worth talking about. I caught this thing on a small shad head and it was 9lb 5oz and threw him back. I told my dad, " Man I bet this thing is close to a state record." Then threw him back. DUH!!!! I should have put him on ice. State record is 9lb 4oz in 1977

That looks like a bufffalo sucker to me, very common in Southern Ohio in rivers and the state record is like 40+ lbs. See list for details:

A little hard to tell from the picture but heck it might be a sheepshead ( Freshwater Drum) either way, its a big fish and always nice to catch one that size weather its a carp , cat or anything else.

100%smallmouth buffalo. Bigmouth, smallmouth and black buffalo are the largest members of the sucker family and can reach close to 100 pounds in the southern U.S. Here's a 58 pounder.

I bet it was fun to land that. I always fish the other side of the dam there and land big cats. That spot on the river is loaded with about anything you can fish for. Keep having fun out there.

I would of had a hard time not keeping that bad boy for cut bait. That would have made plenty.
