Went out fishing for a few hours tonight with my wife, friend John and my nephew. Caught plenty of shad in no time and decided to throw a live one out. Probably the first time I have ever used a live shad for bait. I was standing there talking to the wife as she was complaining about how boring it was and you can't catch fish without using nightcrawlers when the rod tip started bending down slowly. Picked up the rod and told her I had a fish. I just thought it was a small flathead until the drag started pulling and I could feel the head shake. After a few minutes of a nice battle I got it to the shore and my nephew Bubba Boy Ellis on here got it out of the water. He did a great job of grabbing the fish. Of course I let him know that his life was on the line. lol. It tipped the scales at 45lbs even and after a few photos was released to be caught another day.
