Cat's on a Fly Rod!

    well yesterday i had the chance to fish for some more channels on a fly rod! i am helping out at the fly fishing clinic here in fayetteville nc, and i had a blast teaching the students how to caught a Channel cat on a fly rod! Catfish are one of my favorite fish to caught on a fly rod! i caught 5 cats, and the other teacher caught 7 cats! here are 2 pic's form yesterday!

    Wow, that's too cool on a wooly bugger....I've been catchin' on a fly rod since last fall at a local catfish pond , but it's all been on baited hooks....I did think about using a bugger but putting it in a dip bait first...

    i would say not to dip them but it could be worth a try! if you do use the wolly bugger cast it out and let it hit the bottom then use quick 4 to 6 inch pull's on your fly line do this 6 to 8 times then cast back out! it drive them crazy!:wink:

    I have caught a lot of channels on crappie jigs using a fly rod before. That is a pretty good fight.

    i am changing what i said before! try dipping it in some stink and i beat it well drive them crazy!

    yes i did and it works great! when you cast the fly make sure that it hits the bottom then pull then let it set, pull then let it set! do this for 3 to 4 times! it is driving them crazy!:wink:

    You can flyfish for cats with this weather:crazy:?? are you guys getting ice or just rain?

    BTW, I think anything caught on a flyrod is twice as fun to catch. I'll bet if you were to hook into a 5-10#er... you'd be thinking you had a whale on there!!

    no it is not a fish farm it is a place that we hold our annual fly fishing clinics at it is right across the street from lake rim in fayetteville nc

    what weight flyrod are you using? i bet they'd be a blast on my little 3wt.
