Catfishing the Spawn

    What is everyones ideas for fishing during the spawn. I fished for channels Friday and all I caught was a 10# snapping turtle. I am not complaining about the turtle.

    I do very poor while fishing during the spawn for flatheads...Usually from mid June till mid July I dont catch many, if any fish.

    i went sunday,fished three hours,had a warmouth on and cut shad.nothing hit my shad at all.but one did run into my line and made my heart skip a beat as it ran the heck outta my clicker,though.thought i was gonna have to get a new clicker gear for my 6500,lol

    Welcome to the BOC this site is full of good info and great people.

    Catfishing during the spawn is not that productive. You have to keep yourself moving and really taking the bait to the fish as they will be stationary. It is a good time to work on catching bait!

    patience & fish heavy cover where they'd be nesting. I know for channels we want rocky areas. from my understanding flats will hollow out a hole in the river bank.
