Hey, is there anything in the Catfishing Library at the bottom of the forum home page? If there is, why am I not allowed to access this forum? Is this only allowed for certain people?

I'm getting the same thing too. I used to be able to get to it.

I hadn't even noticed it was moved to the bottom. Last time I looked at it it was at the top.

I have been recently told that the "Library" tool can only be used by star members. Buy a star and you can access the library. This is a recent change. That is what I have been told. Hope this helps.

I was looking for the Library last week, I am glad you mentioned the fact that it moved to the bottom of the page. There is a lot of good information there, but I can't get in anymore either, I am not sure what the deal is.

Its one of many changes that will occur between now and February 2010.

Access to the member library is reasonable for Star members only. To become a supporting member is cheap, but this is a decision that is for each individual person.

This also allows a measure of control against new website start-ups, magazine writers for national brands, e-book producers, etc.

andrew your a pretty selfish dude if you think everything in life should be free!!! do you think this website is free to paul? do you think that the staff members should spend hundreds of hours a year helping to maintain and upgrade this place to make it bigger and better for free?? pm whistler and ask him how many hundreds of hours he has invested in that library alone and all paul is asking for is a minimum of $10 donation to help with expenses and that is to commercial??? i have bought stars for other members in the past without them knowing who did it just so they could get involved in the giveaways because i think everyone should be able to be involved in the best catfishin brotherhood there is.. i know your a young buck with lots to learn so all i ask is use your head before you start posting stuff bashin the man that can push a button and make it so you dont have to worry about the [ commercial BOC ] anymore!!:cool2:

I totally agree with Adams post, and could not have written it better. I support Paul in making these decisions.

believe me you dont have it all figured out as well as you think you do!!! and as far as the MODS being here under their own free will thas is total bull---t for you to even say it like that. if you cant see that the STAFF does more than just traffic control here then you need to open your eyes!! do you think the boc would be half what it is with out the help of the staff?? you also are here on your own FREEWILL and if you dont like it you dont have to stay..... if i buy you a STAR will you keep the uneducated comments to yourself..big business man...

Some people have a tendency to let their lips overweigh their hips. Some day they may learn that an attentive ear is a much better teacher than flapping traps. My father once told me, "Tis better to sit and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" and there's a lot of truth in that:eek:oooh::eek:oooh::cool2: Stay safe and pray for those who know it all!!!

    Andrew,
After all the coments about how you spend big dollars on fishing equipment doing a sport that you love, And then you are offended buy the thought that the guys that runs the site would ask for you to chip in a 10 spot to help you support the thing that at least you had 580 interactions with, Says volumes about you my friend,,,:confused2:

I spend more time on here than I do the water "unfortantly", so the little I give here is just a drop in the bucket in the big picture
    I will gladly support,

I wish we were getting $1500 moth for advertising :smile2:

Most sponsors are on to help them get started in their business. As long as the membership receives,"Something" out of that deal, I am normally cool with it.

If people feel that strongly against not being able to access some things on the site and down want to donate to the cause. Owell let em complain. Do you get to read magazines for free. No they are 5 bucks a pop. If you want to read the member library donate 10 bucks at the least and you got all the info. I donated 40 bucks and I think its a small price to pay for such a great resource. Your getting off cheap if you think about it. Just my penny. I dont have two cents anymore i gave the other to the BOC:smile2:

Would I pay a lousy Ten dollars per year to access the member library? Damn straight!

There is more info in there than you will find in ANY fishing magazine. Subscribe to Field and Stream, In Fisherman, or Sports Afield, and maybe, MAYBE you'll see one or two articles a YEAR about cat fishing. I don't blame Paul one bit for trying to protect it. There is thousands of years of combined experience and know-how in there. That's what makes catfish1.com the leader. They're our articles, and your articles. They should be protected.

Go to the home page and look at the amount of online users this site has at any given time. People don't realize the amount of bandwidth it takes to support that many simultaneous server connections to a dynamic site like this. I don't know for sure, but I can bet you catfish1.com isn't hosted on the $7.95/mo. plan.

There are some ads, but they are pertinent. We're not looking at ads for Viagra, or Brittany's hoo-haa, or political garbage. They're mostly all outdoor related and they're unobtrusive. They're not popping up all over the place. I've clicked them all, and I recommend everyone else do the same at least once a week. This is how the site stays online, and how Paul can bring us decent content and extras. Does he make money? I hope so, I hope he makes a lot of it.

The knowledge any newcomer can gain on here is cheap at any price.I,ve been after the flats over 35 years now and I still find stuff that changes the ways I fish.Anybody that don,t think it,s worth $10 to save years of learning it the hard way probaly doesn,t have the desire needed to be a die-hard catman anyhow.

I heard that. As much valuable catfishing knowledge that the BOC has grown over the years is indescribable. A small $10 donation for access to the most critical areas is worth it.
