Cut them up and use them for bait. Works for me! :tounge_out:

Welcome aboard to the BOC Ron. I'd suggest the same as above to try an use that bait as cut not live.

funny thing is, i've tried cut sheephead for bait lots of times, and never ever caught a fish on it. iv'e come to the conclusion that sheephead are so useless even catfish won't eat them. they are fun to catch, though. A 4 lb. sheephead puts up a pretty good fight. Also, its fun to see the reaction of your fishing partner when he thinks he has on a big walleye, and comes up with a sheephead.

every sheepshead i have caught out of erie fought for about 10 seconds then it lays on its side and DIES. litterally. my wife caught 1 that was at least 15 lbs and it fought the whole way in. i have never had that experience. they are annoying and slimy pains in the rear but it is always better than catching nothing...i guess

another thing about sheepheads: where i come from (SD/MN state line) the story used to be that sheepheads have a stone in their heads, and if you cut it out and carry it around in your pocket, its good luck. At least according to my Dad. But he never tried it, as far as I know. Might be fun to save a bunch of them and make a necklace for my wife. or not.

it is a calcium deposit in their head. it will look shiny like a pearl. alot of people drill a hole in them and make necklaces
