Everyone usually always uses slip sinker rigs or carolina rigs for catfishing. Does it really matter that much what rig you use as long as the bait gets to the bottom?

It all depends on various conditions for example- method used, current or slack water, drifting or anchored, suspended lines, bottom lines, down lines, bait choice, heavy structure or not, etc.

Well where I fish which is the Cape Fear River, there is a lot of current in most places but I usually just find a spot with some low-medium current and cast out the poles.

I would just use the tried and true Carolina rig. It seems to work for me in almost all situations, it's simple, doesn't tangle like three way rigs do at times, and in my opinion there's no need to reinvent the wheel, i.e. if it works for ya use it.

The rig is more dependent on the water conditions for me. I use either the carolina rig, Three-way rig, or a slip bobber rig.

I used to use the three way swivels with a drop sinker, pyramid type. All I use now is the carolina rig with a no roll sinker, swivel, leader and hook, simple and effective.

What are you referring to as a "no-roll sinker"? Is that a bank sinker thats what I usually use.
