has any one ever fished for catfish on a fly rod, i use a size 1/0 hook and 3/4 of a nightcrawler and just cast it out as far as possible from my dock and let it sink, as soon as i see excess line being pulled then i grab it up and set the hook, any other ideas

I have caught catfish on a fly rod while fly fishing for trout in some streams. I always hook them when I'm using a stonefly or a SJW

  4. I would agree with thunderroad. In the spring streamers and clousers up along the bank are pretty potent.

I bought mine at Cabela's, but I can't seem to find them in their online catalog, anymore.

Here they are! Believe me, when you look over this PDF catalog, from Enrico Puglisi, you will spend some big $$$. These are the best flies I have even seen. Scroll down to the "warm Water" section, the shad & the bluegill are in there. After finding this catalog, I found 28 different flies I want to try. Hmm, that's about $ 200
Makes this quote realistic. "My worst fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my hunting & fishing stuff, for what she thinks I paid for it.
