Catfish in the conewango river (SW ny)

    After some fishing and chatting I am relatively certain that there is NO appreciable channel catfish in the conewango river; Cattaraugus county SW NY.

    Fact is , round these parts, so FEW (dissapointedly few in fact ) people know the difference between a Bullhead and a channel cat. anyway, I think the reason why is because of a low height dam that blocks the alleghany and prevents channels from spawning upstream in the spring and wintering downstream near the middle of western Pennsylvania.

    the dam has been standing for over 150 years and the isolated population has dissapeared. Bullheads are doing great though:big_smile:

    The bad part of it is that I am going to have to go much further away to catch channels in NY.
