i hear they sting if you get stuck by one... when i go tomorrow
i don't want to get stung
My advice invest in a pair of good fishing gloves.:0a23:
only kind i got is cotton
Walmart sells a pair that has rubberized fingers & palms.I think they cost about $2 or so.:0a23:
gary,, catfish aren't like bees. they don't sting you. they have sharp bones though that can penetrate the skin, esp. the smaller ones.. the larger and older they get the more well rounded they get. so they aren't as sharp. let them flip around till tired then start towards their head and slide your hand to the front of the dorsel, and let the side bones lay between the fingers... you can't be scared of them or you will be a bait catcher all your life..lol rollo
thanks greg and jason... i'm taking a net
even with the net you have to get the hook out . But if you do get stuck by one turn him over and rub some of the slime off the belly on the infected area this will stop the sting
Gary, even with gloves and a net you still have to catch one! lol :smile2:
Another bit of advice, don't be tempted to use your feet to control the cat. This is were most novices get poked, in the foot.
i wear gym shoes
if hes over 3 lbs just pick him up by the lip.
Yeah i'll throw my thumb in any size cat, I been grabbed back though hard enough to draw blood so w/e
