Is the Silver Springs park in Ocala still open? Our high school senior class trip visited there in the 1970's. We went on glass bottom boats and there were catfish in there claimed to be 150 to 200 pounds. There were bluegill that looked to be at least 12" to 14" and had to weigh over 2 pounds.

It would be a nice place to "sneak in" and fish after hours. Just kidding.

Has anyone else besides me been there?

Yes S.S. park is still open. They still have the glass bottom boat tours. As far as I know there is no 150-200# cats in there. But there is some really nice Chann cats in the Silver River.

Last I was there was in the late 80's and the gators would keep you from bank fishing.

Yes there are tons of gators near the park. I never give them much thought because I've been around them my whole life. I've bank fished many times with gators laying 12 - 15 feet away from me. The only time I stay as far away from them as I can is around breeding season.
