it has been my experience that when gar are biting, you may as well go to the house. i had heard this for many years but thought people were full of crap but i have documented this pattern many times now. have i ever caught fish when gar were around? sure, but not very often.

I haven't noticed a big difference when gar are around. If anything, I think they may scare off bait fish. The biggest annoyance is when they start killing your live bait. Be careful if you wash your hands in the water. Don't leave 'em dangling overboard too long:wink:
