I have always caught mine from the bank since I fished from shore. I am going to start fishing from my boat so is it easier to catch shad from it? Is it any different then throwing from the shore? Any help would be appreciated.

No difference really, just access to more areas to find them.

And the stink of shad will be in your boat instead of on the ground. But it is a small price to pay!

I'll have to put a cover over my boat to keep the cats out. LMAO:smile2:

never thought about that:smile2: forget the top. When you do throw do you pull the lines in quicker or let the net sink?:confused2:

Depends if you have located the shad schooling on top or not. If I am just throwing blindly where I think they are, I will let the net sink. And if the water is shallow enough and I am pretty sure it will not get hung up on something, I will let it sink to the bottom. Quite often (for me) along the bottom is where you will find the larger cutbait size shad. JMO

Those shad are very sneaky sometimes! I prefer to let the net sink as far as possible. Normaly the big ones are closer to the bottom

I fish Dillon Lake a lot and cast my net out of my 14 ft. boat. I find it much easier then on shore, as you can find bigger schools of shad in deeper water. In my last cast a couple of weeks ago I caught over 50 shad.
