catching shad

    Going out tommorow on the Ohio, fishing from the bank, do you think the castnet could catch some shad and gills outa there.

    yes a cast net will work if you can find were the shad are at the river is high right now so it will be hard to find then with the water up like it is

    Like Bill said, They get pretty scattered when the river comes up like it is, Good luck Brother!!!

    We'll if you don't mind them half dead, walk around the banks of lakes or ponds that have them, and look for them fluttering around, because i've noticed the "shad kill" has started in some lakes around here.

    I use my castnet to catch any type of bait I can use. Bream, shad, mullet. Cut mullet, scaled, filleted works really well.
