Catching shad on the Monongahela River

    Can you catch shad on the mon. If so where to look for them and what's the technique.

    I've yet to try it myself but a guy I work w said he and his dad catch em on sabikis near warm water outlets. Not sure what water temp would be ideal for this as they might scatter in warmer water temps. He also said a cast net works but that's a little illegal. This was in the Mon by the way. Let us know how you do.
