catching bait

    my son & i are going to santee this weekend. haven't been down since the first week of april. i want to try a little night fishing. i've tried to catch bait a few times, but not much luck. does anyone have some tips or advice on catching live bait & also maybe some tactics or areas to try at night? one more question. does anyone know how the bite is during the day & what depth people are catching cats? sorry for all the questions. any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Mark,
    I'm sorry I hadn't been in a while so I don't know where the herring and shad are right now, However you can always go a little earlier and catch some bream, which is another tasty cat bait. Also Welcome to BOC.
