Not all catalpa trees have catalpa worms. I have a catalpa tree next to my drive that leans out over the water. If it had worms, I would have a natural honeyhole right next to where I tie my boat. A Catman's dream. But, no worms!

Where in IL can I get some? I live in bloomington and have not seen these worms at a bait shop.

They are not on the trees all year, here where I live they start around the second week of August and last for about 3 or 4 weeks.
If you fish them you have to make sure that the inside oozes out or they won't work. They are some of the best bait I have used.

You can find in some trees but you can get them prepack at wal-mart. I never catch a cat over 10 lb with them.
