I have to say this was my best year Catfishing ever only because of the arrival of the Flathead Catfish in the Chesapeake drainage system. Back in 1999 small flatheads started turning up in South Central Pa in the Susquehanna River only a hope skip and a jump from me. Although I was always an avid Channel Cat guy I was very excited to here the news. Since 1999 I have targeted flatheads maybe only 3 or 4 times a year with no success, then all the sudden on July 1 of this year there they where, and the action didn't stop until late September. With the fish probably not being much older them probably 8 years I was very happy with the size and numbers that just seamed to come out of nowhere. Every time I stop at my local Tackle Shop there are more pics of nice flats showing up. The pics I have attached tell some of the highlights of my summer of 2006. Its should only get better from here. Bring on spring

Looks like a nice round of summer fishing to me, good job.

I wish our legal length for yellow cats was lower so we could keep them like most other states can. But you can see from my picture what happens when you have to let the smaller ones go, you catch some biggun's!

    What was your primary bait?

I usually use sunfish Bluegills Chubb's and Sucker. I have noticed that when there hitting hard and water temps are up Sunfish seam to be the most productive. Suckers work well when the water cools or the bite slows. I don't catch enough Gills to make an accurate conclusion about them, although I think are biggest Flathead was on a gill. I would like to try sum Bully's for bait but I only caught 4 Bully's this summer with the net. I think I may buy a trap for them. Any suggestion on trap that can catch Gills and Bully's.
