I'm going to take the G-son and Son-in-law to the lagoon in the morning and try to get the boy some B-gills. We're gonna be shore fishing with some worms and bobbers.
I was told that the gills have been really active the last week so I want to give the boy a shot at hot bluegill action.

Grandson is 6 and has only gone fishing with me once before.
He didn't catch any fish so he hasn't been real enthused about going again.
But going and having a day at the lake with his dad has his interest up.
I'm hoping he gets to catch something so he gets a little more interest in going with me from time to time.

Well no big ones but at least he caught his first fish. The big trick was getting him to slow down reeling in and not try so hard to cast a long ways.
But he got down pretty good after a number of tries.
All in all he caught about a dozen small gills before he got tired of it and wanted to play.
It was a lot of fun watching him catch them and I hope next time I ask him if he wants to go he'll say yes.

i took both my girls over to sunbeam lake for gill fishing . . . they must have caught about a dozen and were having a ball. next time i am just going to bring the cane poles, as the gills seem to be so close to the shore that it seems more efficient that way.
