Cast net weights?

    While fishing last night I snagged an old castnet. It was rotten and had been in the water for a long time . I dragged it in and then cut the weights off it and used some of them like egg sinkers.

    I do the same thing a lot of times. Just wish I knew how much weight I was actually using. :smile2:

    I always ( if I can get them back ) melt them down and make sinkers out of them.

    That's what I do too. When the net is damaged beyond repair (and I get it back), I cut the weights off and melt them down. It would take a bunch of those little weights to hold the bait down in some of the places I fish.

    I took an old net and stripped all the old weights off. I put a 16 penny nail in the sinkers while smashing them with a hammer. Not exactly no roll sinkers, but it works better than regular round ones.
