If a person wanted to bring there own fishing rod and reel to another state? or Country? what are the rules or advice on lugging your fishing gear on a Plane?
Carry-on? anybody travel with your gear? thanks

The policies vary from airline to airline, but most let you take a rod and reel as checked luggage as long as it doesn't exceed a certain length, and a box or case is recommended. Some airlines will consider it as one piece of checked luggage. I've flown to Florida with two 6.5' rods as checked baggage with no problems, but I printed out the airline's policy (from their web site) in case someone tried to make an issue of it.
