Wish I had carp that size around where I fish! However,in the places I go I use a 4' 6" rod with 6lb line to catch 1-5lb carp and to me it's still a blast. For me I just love reeling in something that's a bit of a challenge and carp are great because they're everywhere.

Sounds like you had a great time.Nice job on the 25 pounder!

I keep them for 4-5 days in my artesion well tank ,then I clean and smoke them . there great smoked with fruit wood or hickery . jay jay

First off Way to Go brother Dallas for catching that huge monster carp on a fly rod and 6#.

I've had many a day of fishing "saved" by the lowly carp.
Anytime you hook a carp over the 10lb bracket you are going to know you've been in a fight before your through.

My PB carp was 19.5 lbs on 10lb line 20 years ago, and I'll never forget the epic battle.

Big fish on light tackle make for epic battles and awesome memorys. Enjoy yours, you've earned it. :)

Man, that's amazing! I've never thought about using a fly-rod to fish for carp.

Carp on the fly sure are fun, my biggest on a fly rod is about 15lbs. My best fly is a cottonwood seed fly in spring when they are cruising the shoreline.

They have a lot more bones than other fish, its like a buffalo they have an extra ribcage. Scale it, skin it, gut it, cut off its head, deass it and cook it. Chew carefully till you get used to eating them and know where the bones are.
Its not bad eating just be careful feeding it to the kids.

    Best used as bait.

carp on a fly rod or ultralight tackle are a blast! i use a 9' rod and a 6# leader, or a ugly stik lite that's 5 foor with 6# line. make sure you turn the drag down, and settle in for a fight!
