I had a trip to the James back in 2002 with guide Jimmy Weir. Had an absolute blast. Weather wasn't the best,we caught 7 smallest 26 lbs. ,largest 40 lbs.. I had the pleasure of catching the smallest and largest. I would STRONGLY recommend any one that wants to cacth huge blues the James is the place to go. At one spot we saw them rolling on top lots of them and they where huge.Nice job Mac!!

The James is a great place to fish but different being a tidal river... I have been up there about 10 times and caught fish from 20 to 65 lbs... I would say the best time of year to go would be late Nov. You will tend to catch alot of fish and there size will be good... My Nov trip was on a cloudy day (looked like rain any time) I caught fish 27, 28, 38, 38, 40, 43, 45, 51, 61...... A very good day...:cool2:
