careful-smithville free ramp

    If any of ya'll launch there to try for shad,watch out for the mud flats!Dang COE always lets a lot of water out just before things start heating up,water is shallow on this end.
    Keep an eye on yer depth finder,or you'll be going from this:0a22: to this:0a17:

    BTW,all I could catch monday was bait size bullheads,common carp were jumping everywhere.

    not quite muddy enough to walk on,but close-50 mph winds monday stirred it up.

    A week ago the whole lake was muddy. I doubt it has gotten a whole lot better.

    Hit pony express this a.m. for an hour-lotta 1/2 channels-one day I WILLcatch a tagged one,if not for the fame then the glory!!Bwhaaaaaa:0a1:

    Put a boat in there last nite to try for some shad it was very shallow at the ramp. Went up the river took a mud motor to get across the flat above the bridge al i could seem to catch was crappie and white bass in my throw net. Still cant find the shad they seem to have disapeard.

    That mudflat has grone at least 150 feet since March of 07. Also watch around 1st and 2nd bend above the flat, myself and a buddy were fishing a month ago and trashed a prop up there ,shes silting in fast!!!!!!!
