I was wondering how bad the tide is in this area? Does the river reverse direction at tide changes or just go up and down. Thanks...

It definitely reverses direction way up the river.

Does the incoming tide of salt water in effect the blue cat bite? I have fished downtime Wilmington several times but haven't payed close enough attention to the tide to notice.

Put in at castle street access and went down past the battleship for some catfishing this saturday. Had a steady biting day on a falling tide. Caught 10 fish with the largest two coming on the last two pieces of bait me and my buddy had. They were 10 and 12 pounds, nothing great but fun. They were hitting hard on both shad and shrimp, taking all the bait before sundown.

Nice man. Sounds like a good day on the water. They've been biting good here lately.
