Fished this morning on the Cape Fear from 7:30-10:00 with only one strike and one fish to show for it. 29lb blue, he hit in about 15ft of water on cut eel. Its about time for those bruiser blues to start showing up. River was up 5ft from normal but on the fall.

Not too bad of a fish for being your only bite, hopefully the rivers dont stay too flooded for very long. It was right about this time last year when I was putting 40-55lb blues in the boat almost everytime out. I am pretty sure the flats are about done for the year since the water temp is already in the low fifties. Maybe this warm trend will get the river back up to sixty and revive the flathead fishing for a little longer.
