Still a long way to go. But its a work in progress. I molded a catfish head out of clay and apoxy. Then I made a nother mold of that. Once that dried I thinned down bondo and made the fishes head from the molded. A fe places messed up so I blended and textured those places with apoxy sculpt. I still have to make the whiskers and the gills for it and finish the inside of the mouth. I think its gonna turn out pretty nice. I will show the end results in the next few days hopefully. Heres some photos of it, as far as I have got with it.

Ted, we know that you are a taxidermist of great repute. Do you have other catfish that you have already done? and did you make your mold out of a real cat? It is looking good! I cant wait to see the finished work. I'll have to say that you inspired my creative juices this morning so I borrowed one of your pic's to play with in my photo shop. I hope you don't mind.

Netman - A fellow taxidermist I know has molded a cat awhile back. I thought just a head would look kinda neat. So I used his mold and had to redo parts of it. To get it in the right position. Im eating a late lunch right now and fixing to work on it some more this eveing. I have a couple weeks of down time now waiting on stuff to come back from the tannery and materials to be shipped to me. So I've decided to work half days on customer stuff and the other half on some things I want to do for myself.

I dont have any photos of catfish that Ive done. I havent done but 2(And they was reproductions).

Thanks everyone for the compliments! It makes my work "funner"!

Looking good Ted. Don't worry to much about the fins they wont look right if they are exactly the same, nothing in nature is. Your own eyes, ears, hands and feet are different as is the whole left and right sides of every thing living.
If I had a nice cat head like that I would put it by the kitchen door and keep my truck keys in it! lol:cool2::smile2:

Last night I didnt see anyone in the chat room so I went out to the studio and finished a reproduction trout that a young fella caught at the North Fork Ranch in Colorado last summer. Its a birthday gift from his mom. His twin brother caught one to. So I actually have two to do. Heres the frist one I just finished.
