I have a nine foot one piece calstar rod. It was purchased by me back in 1989. it was what they call a jig stick, it is in their deckhand graphiter series. The rod will throw jigs a mile. (not literally) I paid 130.00 for it back in 89'. It is designed for 30-60 lb test line. I noticed now the rod goes for 257.00. My only complaint about this rod was a lack of a reel seat. It was just a matter of clamping the reel on a cork tape handle. i dropped it off yesterday to have a reel seat built into it. i am really looking forward to getting this rod back and testing it out on catfish this spring and summer. I am thinking about putting an abu 7000c3 on it. The new one with the carbon matrix drag. What do you guys think? I know the rod was designed for saltwater, but it will cast a long ways and is nine foot and one piece. Does this sound like it might be a good catfishin rod for fishing off the bank? Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Paired with a 7000, it should work just fine for bank fishing.
