:) Hello brothers My name is Marc and I live in the High Desert.
I have mostly fished for trout and bass in the fresh and you name it in the salt. My Brotherinlaw was a com fisherman and as a Kid I spent most of my time working for him off the Channel Islands. Ok so my ?.....
 Has any one fished the California Aqueduct at or near Palmdale Ca.
I have learned some great new fishing tricks on the 1st B.O.C. site but I still have not landed a Cat. Must land Cat....We have tryed a cornmeal mixture,Chicken livers,Shrimp cant keep them on the hooks due to the strong current. Power nuggets stay on but no bites. ??? Dose any one know when the best time and location in the Palmdale/High desert is to catch the elusive Catfish and or Strippers of this strech of Aqueduct???...
Thanks
Marc

I am currently in Central Cal, Fresno area, but I am seeing someone in the hgih desert and will be more then likely moving there come Feb.

How is the fishing overall down there any decent cat holes?
WHAT!!!! MY FISHING BUDDY LEAVING ME????? :cursing: That sucks dude. Now I have to start traveling to the high desert. lol
DOn't worry it won't be until at least feburary Robb.....So when we heading out again?
Robb
Think it gets hot in Fresno? You aint seen nothing till you see the gentle warmth of Palmdale on the Aqu. You pull the fish out of the water and it is cooked before it hits the ground.
Frank
So Frank,
I take it you're telling me I am moving to a nice cool environment huh?

Sounds like fun. Many cats in that area?

-brian
Ok well welcome to the High Desert Brian
when you get all moved in we should hit the concrete river and see what we can do. :)
As for the weather YES it dose get hot triple # and we have been known to have 30 to 40 deg swings from morning to noon and from noon to night but dont let that scare you. We need to build up the BOC in the High Desert .
All though we are in the desert we have some local fishing holes.
Little Rock Dam,California Aqueduct,Big Rock Creek,Bouqet Creek and with in 1 to 1 1/2 hours drive you have Castac Lake,Piramid Lake,Lake Piru,Silverwood lake and one of my fav Lake Isabella. We also have a local park that has fishing Apollo Park. I dont like to go there due to the water (Reclamed from the Sewage Tretment Plant on Ave D.) But if you dont have a lot of time and have a itch to fish it is the closest spot and you will catch something.I release everything from Apollo less trout that some one is allways willing to take off your hands. Anyway welcome Keep me posted and remember There out there... Getter Done :D

marc i have a buddy that lives in palmdale one of these weekends coming up we will be heading up there while i am there maybe we can get together and fish, maybe we can pull out some of those cats.
sounds good keep in touch and lets do this. :D
You need a few things to fish the Aqueduct in the summer
1. Large Umbrella
2. Portable 12 ton air conditioner
3. 500 pounds of ice in the ice chest
4. 12 battery powered fans blowing on you at all times
5. a long rope to tie on your waste to help you get back to shore because after a couple hours you will want to jump in the cool water.
6. a good air conditioned vehicle for the return trip home
Frank
LOL True it dose get hot but well...... I kind of thought that night time might be a better time to fish for cats.... At least when you live on the HOT side of the sun like we do in the High Desert. :) Anyway have a good day and tight lines

Hello Marc! My name is Cindy and I live in Ridgecrest. I have been fishing in the aqueduct by Palmdale, and I use chicken livers, which are difficult to keep on the hook, however, if you wrap black thread around the liver and the hook, it stays on and the fish can't see the thread, either that or they don't care that it's there. I have caught a 10 pound catfish and an 8 pound striper there on the same day, same way. Good luck to you! (I can't get there now because of my car, but I know the fishing there is great!)

Hello Marc, I don't know if you got my reply, cause I haven't figured out this site yet. But I catch cats and stripers from the aqueduct using chicken livers, with black thread wrapped around tight which keeps the current from pulling it off. I was going to send you a picture of the 10 pound cat and the 8 pound striper I caught there the same day, same way, but I haven't got enough posts on here yet, so they won't let me. Anyways, I just joined, love it already! I live in Ridgecrest, car acting up so I can't get there now, but I know there is GREAT fishing in the aqueduct by Palmdale. Catch a big one! Cindy
Thank you for replying to me, I guess they did post my pictures of my fish after all. That's pretty cool!
I correspond with a few people that fish the duct near Palmdale and I run out there and give it go myself from time to time. It hasn't been productive for me but I'm still learning how to fish it and where.
Hello Cindy welcome to the BOC this is a great site with alot of great people and info here .
The last time I checked, Apollo Park had its lakes stocked with catfish in June. It's supposed to be stocked with trout in the other months. I haven't tried the aquaduct, though.

i have been reading about a few stripers being caught at the breaks
