I going to buy a Shimano baitrunner 6500 . Want to put it on the right rod,any suggestions? I have a 8' MH, Ugly stick empty, do you think this rod would work. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm that 6500 Baitrunner reel is huge. Might be a better balance for the 4500 with the rod you are describing.

I have a 6500 baitrunner on a 11' MH Ugly Stik, works fine for me, I only use it for bank fishing.

My 6500 is mounted on a 12' Eagle Claw, Catclaw, from Catfish Connection, works GREAT. I'm using Breakaway longcast line, and it does "Cast long".

My 6500 is on a 9 ft Ugly Stik and I love it for bank fishing. This is a great reel!

If your going to be fishing out of a boat, not many rods can beat a heavy action Tsunami boat rod, I have most of my 4500 baitrunners and 6500 baitrunners on 7- 7 1/2' tsunamis. I used to have a 6500 on a 7 1/2' ugly stick but it broke, could have been just bad luck. I do have one on a 7 1/2' tiger rod and it seems like a good rod, only time will tell. Good luck
